This year has flown by and I can’t believe I actually managed to survive a whole year working for myself! I’m extremely excited about 2014 and everything thats already planned for it (new collections, a capsule collection for Ascot and a collaboration with Singapore based designer MAH to name a few!)

Thank you to everyone that has supported me this year and special thanks to my beautiful models Harriet, Erika and Kerry who have let me plonk my hats onto their beautiful heads to be photographed and didn’t want anything in return. Much love to you lovely girls 🙂

Happy Holidays everyone and see you in 2014!

New, New, New, New…

January 24, 2013

Ok, so it’s probably a little late to say that but as 2012’s new year blog post was written on the 31st January and today is only the 24th January, I figure that’s an improvement.

The year so far has started off pretty freaking terrifyingly. At the end of 2012 I decided to leave my job in a nice little fabric shop in Soho and go full time with my millinery label. This was all super exciting until the first week of January when the enormity of what I had actually done finally hit me and I had a mini panic attack. After breathing in and out of a paper bag for a while, drinking some tea and watching an episode of Columbo (Peter Falk’s voice soothes me- don’t ask), I figured I had two options:

1. Strip the house of all copper pipes, sell them to the rag and bone men then run away,

2. Make hats and sell them.

After some deliberation and realising I have no tools to extract said copper pipes-only sewing equipment – I decided to go with option 2.

Thank goodness, everything after that week has been fine and the orders have been coming in!

For the whole of January I’ve been running an online sale at Bottica.com with up to 50% off of some pieces. Sale ends on the 28th of January.

A few pieces in the sale-

Also at the end of last year I became a partner on the Not on the High Street.com. You can find my new Bridal collection-  by Faulkner & Carter – available to buy there.

A new website for Faulkner & Carter is in progress and we have a few shows and events planned for 2013 – I will keep you updated!

Finally, I decided that this year I needed a new logo and a new website in order to celebrate my new freelance status. The website is almost finished and will be launching soon (again I’ll keep you posted)

But for now, here is a little preview of my new logo –

A massive thank you to the super awesome Marilou Rabourdin for helping me with it.

I’m off to the studio now to work on all of the above (in between hyperventilating)  but if you do happen to need a hat or headpiece this year…you know where to come!

If you’re in need of some unique Christmas gift ideas, then come down to Southbank this weekend, where I will have a stall along with 150 other designer-makers selling everything from ceramics, textiles, illustrations and much more.

I’ve had a massive studio clear out so have a huge range of hats, headpieces and headbands at super reduced prices. (I’m moving studio in the new year so the less I have to take with me the better!).

There are pieces that will make great gifts, but if you also want to treat yourself, there will be hats that are perfect for the Christmas and New Year Party Season.

Festival Village, Southbank
Friday 14th December 12pm – 10pm
Saturday 15th December 12pm – 8pm
Sunday 16th December 12pm – 8pm

If you can’t make it this weekend you can still purchase something in time for Christmas from my online shop!

Last order date for Christmas delivery is the 20th December and all postage in the UK is free.

Two Thousand & Twelve

January 31, 2012

I’ve been told that you can wish people a ‘Happy New Year’ for the whole of January, so as today is January the 31st I thought I should get a move on, write a blog post and say

H A P P Y  N E W  Y E A R !

It’s been a hectic but exciting new start to the year. I’ve been producing a few more pieces for Gossip Girl, have moved out of my tiny box room at home and into a new studio in London Fields, Hackney, and as of next Monday will be a new seller on Boticca.com.

Have also got some exciting collaborations planned this year which I’m very much looking forward to, and by the end of February will have a brand new website!

Lots to do, but in the meantime here are a few pics of my new studio…
